Here we are braving the snow drifts to walk from the school over to the lake. It was actually a very nice afternoon. Air temperature was 28 degrees Fahrenheit. However, we were glad to have hot chocolate when we got back to the class room.
Drilling

As usual, we walked out to the lake depth marker that the DNR placed in the lake back in 1992. Either the water is higher or the lake depth marker has sunk, because the graduations on the marker are no longer visible. .
Measuring Ice Thickness  Here's the data we collected
1. Ice Thickness 10.5 inches
2. Lake Depth 7ft 10 in
3. pH = 7.0
4. Nitrate = 0.4 ppm
5. Water temperature at bottom was 3.2 oC
6. Dissolved Oxgyen = 5ppm at surface, 0 ppm at bottom. Water very clear, little evidence of zooplankton
