Here we are in early April, ready for another spring field season. We hope that over the course of the spring we will observe the same amphibians that we have in the past. The chrous frog, the leopard frog, the green tree frog, the american toad, tiger salamanders and painted turtles.
One of our projects this year was the placing of 6 snake monitoring boards. We put them 75 ft apart under the oak trees that ring the northern and eastern edges of the frog pond. Next spring we will check back to see if any snakes have made them their homes.
A sure sign of spring. Here's a painted turtle taking a sun on an unsualy warm day in April

Here we are having fun at our end of the year Pizza party which included a visit from the "Snake Lady" who talked about the kinds of snake we might find at under our snake boards at Patrick Marsh.
