A Spring is Found

On Febuary 15 Discovery Club Members set out to find to the spring. A local observer in the area reported that he had heard the sound water rushing underneath the snow. Map of the Marsh
As you can see the spring is locates on south-east side of the marsh. Discovery club Springmembers reported the following data:
  • They heard the sound of rushing water
  • There was snow covered water
  • There was no open water
  • A Discovery Club Members's foot fell through the snow and into the stream
  • Inside the hole they could see a live bullhead and a small blue gill fry
  • They also observed a bullhead's head in the snow with prints of a large bird
  • They took two DisO2 readings the results are: 1.8 & 2.0ppm
  • The water had a foul odor
  • Temperature was measured at < 0° C
  • Also took sample for NO2 & phosphate
