Summary of Water Quality Data: Fall 2002

lake temp last three years
Notice that over the last three years the lake temperature has been warmer in September, but colder by the beginning of November

.
secci distance
Here we show that during the fall the water in the lake becomes clearer as the algae die off

dissolved oxygen fall 2002
The relationship between dissolved oxygen and water temperature is very complex. Even though colder water holds more oxygen, this graph shows that at Patrick Marsh there is more oxygen in the water at warmer temperature. This is because of dense algae bloom (see secci distance) in September produce supralevels of oxygen on warm sunny days. Later in the fall, as the lake cools, there is less algae to add oxygen to the lake.
