Fall 2001 Data

OCTOBER 15TH The weather has really changed. We're wearing jackets now. The water in the frog pond has as turned into a foot of wet mud. That makes it real hard to get out to get our samples. We were also greated by a pair of lost kittens, who followed us back to the parking lot. Some club members are going to see if they can find there home. Hope they do!!

OCTOBER 8TH What a great day!! But, boy was it windy. We caught two shrews...that's five for the season. Of course we made our water quality measurements. We have a great discovery. Check back soon to see what the relationship between dissolved oxygen and air temperature is.

OCTOBER 1ST  Hey look what we found...a really really large puffball. Anyone for mushroom soup!!!. We also caught one more short-tailed shrew...last year we had caught twelve animals by now. We also took our water quality measurements.

SEPTEMBER 24TH:Another 30 traps and only one short-tailed shrew. Well, at least we took our water quality measurements. Come back soon to see our graphs. The water temperature has fallen 10 degrees celcius since the begining of                                 September.

SEPTEMBER 17TH: Alleluia!! Finally we caught two short-tailed shrews. We weighted them, measured their length and marked them with fingernail polish. We also took our water quality measurements. By next week can start graphing our data to see if we can find trends.

SEPTEMBER 10TH: We went out and again...none of the traps were tripped...
WHERE ARE THE SHREWS?????? We also make our water quality measurements.

SEPTEMBER 4TH: We had our first meeting. We went out to the pond and were disappointed that none of the traps were tripped. In fact, none of the bait was taken. We did take measurements for water temperature, dissolved oxygen and nitrate. Someone forgot the Secci dish.
