![]() Finally the Frogs ![]() May 03, 2001. What a difference a week can make. There were thunderstorms today and it was near 80 degrees when we visited the pond. For the first time we all wished we had brought insect repellent. The good news was that we caught 8 different animals in our traps. 2 chorus frogs, 5 american toads and 1 leporad frog...WOW! That more than doubled our catch for the season
![]() Here we are calibrating the oxygen meter. We have got some very interesting data this season, check back soon for a summary of our results. ![]() Discovery members showing off our prize catch... a very large leopard frog. The mass was greater than our 60 gram scale...we've got to get a bigger scale. ![]() A close up of the leopard frog. It is in the bag so we can weight and measure it. >For the first time this season we sampled the pond for invertebrates. ![]() A close up of some of invertebrates in the pond. If you look close you can see a Dobenson fly larva and tadpoles. |
